About House of Suarez Presents The Ball of Conspiracies

**PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE AT MANCHESTER ACADEMY**

Hot off the high heels of the rapturously received Euro Ball on the eve of the Eurovision Song Contest final in Liverpool, the Legendary House of Suarez are excited to bring the Ball of Conspiracies to Manchester, at its regular playground, Manchester Academy 1.

Was the moon landing faked? Did aliens land at Roswell? Was Avril Lavigne replaced by a lookalike called Melissa? Is the Vogue Ball itself an inside job?

Probably not. But it will be fun to apply the glitter, shake our hips and pretend for one night!

“Forget everything you’ve seen on a standard catwalk, because this is ten times the energy. It’s exactly the kind of place you want to be on a Saturday night.”

Purple Revolver

Iconic host Ricki Beadle-Blair will take us on a journey as our incredible artists sashay us through some of the most outlandish conspiracy theories on the net, with even more outlandish outfits and performances.

“A glorious mess of identities which doubles up as a killer evening of entertainment.”

About The Vogue Ball

The House of Suarez

House of Suarez was established by Darren Suarez in 2006 as a platform for Vogue Dance and Culture developing the choreography of the vogue style.

Suarez was the founder of the first Liverpool Vogue Ball event "Liverpool is Burning" as part of the programme for European Capital of Culture in 2008. Since then the HoS Vogue Ball has been produced independently in Liverpool and from 2010-2020 has grown its audience and participants to form one of the main cultural events in the city's calendar each autumn appearing as a photo story in Attitude Magazine (Nov 2018).

Since 2014 the company has hosted the HoS Manchester Ball– named one of the five best dance shows to see in The Guardian (08/02/19), and receiving a five star review in Upstaged Manchester. In 2022, the Houseof Suarez Vogue Ball held its first event in Leeds.

In 2014 The HoS Ball was given the official “Legendary” title, an honour bestowed by the international Vogue dance community. HoS and the development of the Northern Vogue scene featured in an independently produced documentary Deep in Vogue, currently streaming on BBC iPlayer.

Since 2012 HoS has run an Academy in Vogue and Contemporary Dance for emerging artists and selected dancers form the professional HoS company performing in Balls and tours. Since 2014 HoS has also hosted Elements of Vogue showcasing emerging young academy dancers alongside regional dance schools, and professional voguers.

The House of Suarez Vogue Ball is a major public event that gives opportunities for both professional and community artists to compete using choreography, styling and design with unapologetic fierceness.

Ballroom Culture

Ballroom culture began in the 1960’s in New York’s black and latinx LGBTQ+ communities, and was later popularised by the award winning documentary Paris Is Burning, Madonna’s iconic 1990 hit Vogue and, more recently, the Emmy-winning prime time series Pose.

To compete, a group of artists (known as “Houses”) enter into one or more of the Ball’s categories in front of a large audience and panel of esteemed judges.
