About ON LAND AND LINES: Creative Workshops with Emmy Lahouel

Emmy is a Manchester based interdisciplinary artist and organiser working nationally and internationally across cultural organisations, venues and unconventional spaces. Originally training in Physical and Dance Theatre, she has since worked as Director, Producer, Performer and Facilitator for organisations such as: Selina Thompson, Eclipse Theatre, Z-arts, Ludus Dance, HOME, Contact, Company Chameleon, Salford University.

 

Emmy is coming to Contact this December with two workshops: On Land and Lines: Working with Text’ and On Land and Lines: Mapping the Roots’

The first workshop, ‘On Land and Lines: Working with Text’, is for creatives looking to incorporate text into their work, this session involves creative writing tasks, experimenting with scripts, and exploring stagecraft in live performance.  

The second workshop, ‘On Land and Lines: Mapping the Roots’, will explore how landscapes, memory and cultural heritage can inform artistic practice. Through movement tasks, creative writing and mapping exercises, you will explore what shapes us and how these roots can inform the way we make.

 

Please bring: Loose, comfortable clothing, cozy layers are nice too! A notebook and pen, water, and anything else you need to feel comfortable. 
Access: Please let us know of any specific access requirements ahead of the session. 

Who for: Performers, Actors, Movers, Makers. No formal dance, acting or writing experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
