About Man Made Men

How does it feel to finally find the version of you that you repress?   How does it feel to grieve them?

We form friendships in locker rooms and game lobbies, pubs and clubs, gigs and at the back of the bus.  How do they empower or confine us?   How can they isolate or heal us?

Man Made Men has been produced as part of the Creatively Minded Men project, where a collective of young men who have never engaged in theatre took up residency in Contact.   For the past eight months, the group have explored masculinity and their own experiences with mental health through music therapy, jamming and conversation.

This production is part of a two year project funded by the Baring Foundation. Contact is part of a national cohort of organisations working in response to the Foundation’s research report Creatively Minded Men. Through our partnership with Nordoff & Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, our resident music therapist, Ben, has supported the CYC group throughout their time at Contact.
