About Boiling Point
Hosted by celebrated Birmingham-based spoken word artist Amerah Saleh, Boiling Point invites audiences on both days to gather around the “the kitchen table or living room” for a unique discussion that explores the politics, fissures and optimistic possibilities of our world.
Designed as a cosy space for everyone to see, hear and share their truths freely. This unique talk will span tender reflections, impassioned debate and beyond in a homely environment, allowing everyone present to be both audience and participant.
Artist Bios
Amerah Saleh is a spoken word artist born and bred from Birmingham. Her Muslim Yemeni roots give her space to get lost and found on multiple occasions between identity. She is the Co-Founder of Verve Poetry Press. Amerah has performed all around Europe and has released her first collection called I Am Not From Here in April 2018. Her work touches on identity, womanhood, religion and the obscure idea of belonging only to one place.

Muneera Pilgrim is a Poet, Cultural Producer, Writer, Broadcaster and she was recently awarded a 5 year theatre writing residency with Bristol Old Vic. To add to her accolades, she is a TEDx Speaker, and a WOW Festival Speaker with international acclaim. At heart, Muneera is a storyteller, concerned with telling stories to disrupt mainstream narratives of non-centered people globally and to beautify truths that are rarely told.

Shabnam Nasimi is a public historian, writer and digital storyteller exploring Afghanistan’s forgotten histories and its Persianate past.
