Join us for a boisterous night of poetry and music at Manchester’s legendary Band on the Wall.
Young Identity are Manchester’s finest young spoken word performers, working in partnership with Contact for the last 10 years.
One Mic Stand is centred around a Poetry Slam, in which 10 poets are given only 3 minutes each to wow the audience with their lyrical mastery and charismatic delivery to battle it out to gain the top spot and win the grand prize of £50!
A hotbed of upcoming talent, each edition also features performances from special guest artists.
EVABEE is a songwriter and recording artist who has been part of the bubbling Manchester underground scene for some time. With her subtle and emotionally charged singing style, words are always allowed space to breathe and engaging lyrics and vocals float over hard-hitting, uncompromisingly fresh and airy boom-bap beats.

He has written and performed for BBC Manchester Radio, written and performed two sell-out shows at The Lowry as part of the Working Verse Collective, was the 2013 Poet Laureate of Kendal Calling Festival, debuted his one-man spoken word show ‘Shapes’ at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 and released his debut collection ‘A Poet Called Dave’ in 2015 with Flapjack Press.
