Over the past few days we have been monitoring news and advice around the COVID-19 virus.
With great sadness, we are announcing the postponement of all performances of Xana: Swallowing Your Idols. This is not a decision that we have taken lightly, but at Contact, the health and wellbeing of our audience, artists and staff, as well as those of our partnering venues, will always be our biggest priority. We hope to arrange new dates in the future.
We will be contacting all ticket holders shortly.
We remain committed to supporting fantastic artists like Xana, and showcasing great theatre here in Manchester. We encourage all our supporters to follow us on social media and keep an eye out for announcements on our autumn/winter season.
Presented by Contact and STUN Studio.
Written and Performed by Xana.
It’s Sunday night. A portal opens up in your living room and you’re pulled in, only to stand face to face with yourself, as a child.
It’s the return you weren’t prepared for, a journey towards softness, forgiveness and joy. About being present. Are you ready?
Told through synths, hacked toys, looping and poetry, Swallowing Your Idols brings the child, the teenager and the adult together in an apology owed to your past selves.
It’s a love letter to Black childhood, to the worlds we’ve built and the inheritance of our family legacies.
Created and performed by live loop artist, Xana: Swallowing Your Idols is about being accountable for who you have become, and remembering who got you here. To help ourselves and our collectives live and not just survive each day.
Commissioned by Contact, Live Art UK Diverse Actions, Lost Kids Collective and Ovalhouse.
