Beginner's vogueing workshop with Darren Pritchard
A practical, dance-based workshop for beginners.
Darren’s workshop takes a playful approach to drawing an association between fashion portraiture and the hyper-stylised form of dance commonly termed as ‘vogue’ or ‘voguing’. Made popular in mainstream channels by the likes of Madonna (“Strike a pose!”) and the classic documentary Paris is Burning (1990), voguing is characterized by model-like poses integrated with angular, linear and rigid arm, leg and body movements.
This workshop is part of Black Gold Arts Festival 2020.
Note: You will receive a zoom link before the start of the event. Please check your email inbox, including spam/junk email for this link. Please be aware that artists are still creating and developing the works that will be shown at the festival. In the unlikely event that the link to the performance, panel or screening you have booked changes we will send you an updated ticket with the new details.

About Darren Pritchard
Darren Pritchard, the mother of House of Ghetto and co-creator of the acclaimed production, Rent Party, will be leading the workshop.
“A vogue house is about community and friendship groups and having someone you can call and go to,” Darren says. “You can be camp and flamboyant and not the perfect body size so long as you own everything you are.” (Quote taken from BBC)
