We are thrilled to announce a series of new workshops taking place at Contact themed around our 14%: OFF SIDE screenings.

These workshops will explore all sides of British football culture and interrogate how discrimination between sub-groups of fans quantifies belonging in a creative way ⚽

The workshops will run in separate strands;

  • Music: 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of December.
  • Creative Writing: 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th December.
  • Theatre: 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd of December.

And across separate times;

  • 4-6pm for 13 to 18-years-olds on the above dates.
  • 7-9pm for 18- to 30-year-olds on the above dates.

The project will end in a sharing event on the 23rd of December.

Whilst you don’t have to come to each and every session, we recommend attending to as many as possible. The workshops are both enjoyable and educational, and led by some amazing facilitators including our very own Artistic Director and CEO Keisha Thompson.

WHY ARE CONTACT Exploring Football?

At Contact, we’re not afraid to hold space for difficult conversations.

Our FIFA World Cup 2022 screenings and panel discussions aim to platform the debate surrounding the hosting of the tournament in Qatar. We’ll be exploring a range of themes including LGBTQ+ representation in football, racism in the sport and more.

There are many concerns regarding Qatar’s suitability as a host country and we recognise the human rights breaches, discrimination and corruption that have occurred.

Our venue, as always, remains a safe space for all to critically explore these topics.
