As the Sales and Communications assistant, part of my job is being the voice of Contact.
If you have called up in the last eight months it would have been probably my voice you have heard. If you’ve seen our socials in the last six months I was hiding behind the logo, and you might have also seen me on the box office in our newly refurbished building if it hadn’t been for that pesky pandemic!
Working on the box office this year has been eventful, and not only because I’ve switched from desk to dining table, from couch to bed every hour of every working day. The change in the way we work has given me the opportunity to get more involved in the marketing side of Contact. So, I have been the voice through the phone during this time, but also had the opportunity to get more experience in social media marketing and using my voice through those channels as well.
Despite it not being viable for shows to go ahead inside the building, Contact has produced some amazing online shows that I worked on the digital box office for. One thing I can say, it’s definitely made me much more confident on the phone. I have definitely stepped up my small talk game!
My first experience working on the box office in person was Vogue Ball 2020, and what a ball it was. Fast paced, full of amazing people dressed to the nines, tickets at the ready. A completely different world to me sat at home in my comfies, waiting for the box office phone to start dialling, although this did give me a chance at seeing some of the performances whilst they were happening, which was a bonus.
Next year is going to be an exciting time for Contact, but also hold so many unpredictable moments, and I’m interested in seeing where the role will take me next.
Here’s to hoping it will be in a building full of people enjoying the days performance!
Thanks for reading, Tanica.
