This month we are shining the spotlight on Future Fires participant Jessica Nolan!
Jessica is preparing to launch her own amazing project Uniquely Us follow a successful pitch for funding to Bury Council Community Fund and O2 Think Big, along with securing generous in-kind support from The Met and Instruct (thanks everyone!).
Uniquely Us, is a theatre-based project in Bury that aims to encourage young women (age 16-30) on the Autistic spectrum to engage with the arts, make friends and build confidence in a fun and pressure free environment.
Inspired by her own experience of being on the autistic spectrum and growing up in Bury, Jessica is passionate about challenging the stigma and labels associated with autism.
As an Autistic woman born and raised in Bury I’ve experienced social isolation. I want to make change to help other women that are in the position I was in and give them somewhere they can feel free to express and be themselves without the chance of rejection or bullying. This project will help them to engage in the arts and encourage their creativity in a positive way that will hopefully boost their confidence and social communication skills.
Uniquely Us starts on 7th October at The Met in Bury. To book your place or for more information contact Jessica Nolan at Jessica.UniquelyUs@gmail.com or phone 0161 274 061.
