There’s nothing like a Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme rendition of your favourite Christmas song to put you in the festive mood.

It’s yuletide, that time when the nights are drawing in and all you want to do is settle by the fire with a hot chocolate. If you’re making a Christmas playlist… and checking it twice, why not consider some of these festive favourites? Here are our top 5 Christmas songs, crowning these killer artists, Queens of Yule.

1. Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You (1994)

Is it even Christmas if you haven’t heard this song in every shop? We don’t think so. Mariah has been the official voice of Christmas since 1994, uniting and challenging all you shoppers to hit those top notes with her. Since you’ve all heard this (at least once), here’s Mariah, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots doing a version with classroom instruments.

2. Sia – Santa’s Coming for Us (2017)

This was a hard one since Sia’s album Everyday is Christmas is all amazing; one cracker after another. However, Santa’s Coming for Us is a total bop. Sia began her career as a singer/song-writer in the mid-1990’s, recording 5 studio albums before taking a hiatus. From 2005, Sia forged a successful career writing songs such as Diamonds for Rihanna and Titanium for David Guetta, before taking up her solo career again. We love this queen of pop.

3. Barbra Streisand – Jingle Bells (1967)

This is JJJ-Jingle Bells and classic Streisand humour at light-speed. If you think it begins fast, then hold onto your hat because it just gets faster. Still, don’t know how Babs makes it through this without keeling over.

4. Bobby Helms – Jingle Bell Rock (1970)

‘Please, welcome to the stage, Santa’s Helpers doing Jingle Bell Rock’ That’s right, this song was originally recorded by Bobby Helms, but made famous in recent times by the 2004 film, Mean Girls. Safe to say, it was quite the eventful Winter Talent Show at North Shore High School – does anyone remember what happened to that guy in the front row?

5. Eartha Kitt – Santa Baby (1954)

70 years later, Santa Baby is an enduring Christmas smash hit. Almost every queen under the sun and stars has covered this song, including Ariana Grande (current Queen of Pop), Taylor Swift (Country-Pop Princess), Kylie Minogue (Princess of Pop) and Madonna (One-time Queen of Pop). Still, none match the simple 50’s elegance of Eartha Kitt’s original.

Well, that’s put us right in the mood for some Xmas merrymaking and festive frivolity. Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme are sure to know a few Christmas crackers but if we’ve missed your fav, and you think it should have made the Top 5, tweet us @contactmcr.
