We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for not one, not two but three Manchester Culture Awards.
The Manchester Culture Awards celebrate the finest in arts and culture across the city, and there are 13 categories in total.
We’ve been shortlisted in the following categories:
Outstanding Contribution: Contact IN THE CITY
Whilst our building is being redeveloped, we’ve continued to stage immersive, original performances in Manchester, swapping our theatre for more unusual spaces, such as sari shops and the Science and Industry Museum. We’ve also brought Contact audiences to more traditional theatres venues in the city, such as The Palace and The Royal Exchange.
Promotion of Health and Wellbeing: Contact Theatre Health and Wellbeing Programme
Contact’s Wellcome Trust funded Health and Wellbeing programme is unique to Manchester.
Using performance to raise awareness and highlight health inequalities, it seeks to improve wellbeing by creating art that openly addresses health issues. Accompanied by workshops, talks and events, participants are encouraged to share their own experiences.
Young Creative of the Year: Olivia Lee
Olivia has been instrumental in changing the lives of the young people she works with on The Agency, one of our flagships projects.
Olivia provides a powerful role model in her thoughtful approach and caring behaviour. She is an inspirational young speaker and panellist, regularly invited to speak at major conferences and events locally and nationally.
The award ceremony takes place on Saturday 9 November, we’ll let you know if we win!
