If you’ve not managed to get one of those tickets, here’s some alternative ways to spend your time this week…

Peveril of the Peak just off Oxford Road is a great pub with a jukebox and fussball table (I like winning). There’s a really friendly community and top bar staff.’ Bella, Capital Project Co-ordinator

‘For great noodles head to the subterranean Umami restaurant, near to the Aquatics Centre’ Nancy, Head of Marketing and Communications

‘My favourite place to go on Oxford Road is Grand Central Pub because it has a jukebox full of heavy metal!!! Then behind it (down a little cobblestone street) is The Salisbury which is also great for heavy metal fans.’ Andy, Finance Assistant

Kro Bar is a great friendly, bright pub and restaurant opposite the university’ Markus, Data and Reporting Coordinator

Zouk is one of my big favs – authentic Indian food, cool shisha spot and very Instagrammable surroundings you can’t go wrong! There are also inside sofas or an outside terrace, I’ve been here for quite a few birthdays and special occassions’ Bianca, Digital Content Officer

Eighth Day is my vibe. They are the best for obscure health snacks, random events and banging stews.’ Keisha, Young People’s Producer

Hatch has got something for everyone and is great if you’re in a groups of friends who don’t know what they want. There’s lots of different options for food and drink and even shops to mooch about.’ Ceri, Marketing and Communications Officer

‘My favourite place is Manchester Academy on the University of Manchester campus because I have had many many great days and nights out there both as a student and a “grown up”, most recently at Contact’s Vogue Ball.’ Caroline, Capital Team Manager

‘For a real hidden gem, head downstairs at One Plus for the biggest and best noodle broth in town!’
Wez, Box Office and Audience Insights Manager
