Following a governance review, we’ve decided that at least 50% of our board will be young people under the age of 30 and we are appointing a young Chair to play a key role in shaping the strategic development of Contact as we prepare to move back into our refurbished building.

You will:

  • Act as an ambassador and advocate for Contact
  • Raise our local and national profile
  • Support the Artistic Director/Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team
  • Ensure that the Board of Trustees functions as a team
  • Work closely with the board to ensure that Contact achieves its strategic objectives

    The chair of the Contact board of trustees is a really important role at an incredibly exciting time for us. 2020 sees us reopen our amazing building after a major expansion and refurbishment, and relaunch our public programmes of shows, festivals and young people’s creative activity.

    The board meets four times a year (in the evening) so you will need to commit to all the board meetings as well as being available for daytime meetings with the Artistic Director/Chief Executive and occasional ad hoc meetings with third parties. These meetings can be arranged flexibly around your other commitments.

    The Chair will be supported in the role through training, mentoring and development from the existing Chair during a 6 month handover period.

    Thank you to those of you who came along to the information evening we held on Tue 18 Feb. It was a great chance to meet interested candidates and give more information about our organisation, how a board works and the chair position.

    This is a voluntary position with travel expenses paid for attending board meetings and Contact events.
