SICK! Festival takes over the legendary NIAMOS Centre with a host of events giving voice to young people in the city.
A series of creative workshops that explore what makes life worth living for young people today. Participants are invited to join us for a communal lunch in the grand auditorium.
All workshops suitable for young people aged 18-30.
GRAPHIC ENCOUNTERS WORKSHOP: JAMIE SQUIRES
BOOK: 10am – 4pm
Join illustrator and comic artist Jamie Squire for a day-long workshop exploring some of the fundamentals of creating comics and narratives. Plus, how to use these skills to make work which encourages discussion and helps break the stigma surrounding mental health. Beginners welcome. Let’s draw!
REFORM RADIO: PODCAST CLINIC

Award-winning local digital radio station Reform Radio will be hosting a podcast clinic, offering you a chance to have your voice heard. They are asking for your responses or questions exploring the theme of ‘what is the value of a life’.
Recordings made through the podcast clinic may be used as part of the Takeover event on 5th October or in future work with Reform Radio, SICK! Festival, Creative Arena and the MMU Greater Manchester Living Youth Charter of Rights.
SIGN OF THE TIMES: BERNADETTE RUSSELL & ROB KENNEDY

Sign of The Times is a free workshop with artists Bernadette Russell and Rob Kennedy. You are invited to answer the question, ‘what do you want?’ through the time-honoured medium of the placard, humble bearer of political protest and retail discount offers in our cities. The placards will be on public display, anonymously and collectively demonstrating the desires of us all.

OH EK! it’s a comedy workshop! Manchester based sketch group OH EK! are asking you to meet them in the bell room for a fun and alternative exploration into what makes life worth living for young people today and looking at the question what is the value of a life?
