After wowing audiences and critics at the Edinburgh Fringe 2012, The Market Theatre bring their comedic tale of two women to Contact as part of Afrovibes Festival 2012.
Would you wait for days in a queue to purchase a sack of rice? This is where a retiring prostitute and a domestic worker meet and develop an interesting and humorous friendship.
The Lady, who is used to the waiting game, carries a chair with her everywhere she goes, just in case she has to wait. She makes a deal with the Woman to share her chair in exchange for a share of her food. While waiting they review their triumphs, disappointments, struggle, survival, as they bond over the use of a single chair.
Featuring stand-out performances from two of South Africa's most acclaimed comediennes, Lesego Motsepe (from the South African soap opera Isindingo) and Hlengiwe Lushaba, And The Girls... is heart-warming and highly entertaining.
