Re:Con, Contact’s Young Programming and Producing Team, is a pioneering initiative consisting of four young arts practitioners from diverse artistic backgrounds. Working directly with Contact’s programming department, Re:Con have received support and development to become part of the new generation of cultural leaders.
The name Re:Con was created as a response to the first task set by Contact – to be a reconnaissance team for a theatre with young people at its heart. They have been seeking out the most inspirational and exciting theatrical works within Manchester and around the UK.
"I got involved at Contact because it providea an incredible platform for a career in the arts. We work closely with the Artistic Director and Programming Team who support us to understand the programming decisions. We see new shows around the country and assess whether they fit Contact's ethos and vision. The four of us have varying styles and different artistic backgrounds so we are also learning from each other. We are excited about immersing ourselves in our final project that will have Contact's core values at the heart of it" John Tomlinson Re:Con member
The members of Re:Con team influence and shaped Contact’s programme . As ambassadors of the programming department, Re:Co receive a unique opportunity to gain an inside perspective of how a theatre runs its seasonal and yearly programmes.
The culmination of their year of activity was 24 Arty People, where new performance was created by 24 artists over 24 hours.
