Future Fires 2010

Quina Chapman

Drama project with homeless young people

City Drama Project involved the delivery of drama and visual arts workshops with homeless young people in Manchester. Quina explored the theme of fairy tales with residents aged 16-25 from The Manchester Foyer. The project aimed to teach new creative skills to the young people and to improve and enhance their self-awareness and communication skills.

Quina currently works as Project Coordinator for the Greater Manchester Youth Network, delivering projects for young people aged 16-19 in North Manchester. Quina is also a Creative Expert at Contact and a peer mentor for Future Fires.

“Before I joined the programme I was unemployed and quite depressed as I didn’t know many people in Manchester and I couldn’t find work. Through joining Future Fires I met new people and my confidence and self-belief improved hugely. Also, I gained casual employment at Contact as a result of Future Fires, and then got my Community Work role, eventually leading to my current role as a Project Co-ordinator.”
