Future Fires 2010

Dee-Anne Donalds

Community dance project

Dee-Anne developed a project for a group of 14-15 year olds in East Manchester. The project was based on the themes of role models and conflict in the communities that the young people belong to and involved elements of dance, spoken word and photography.

She successfully delivered her project which culminated in a live performance of A Star in the Dark, which fused contemporary dance, sound, art and film to explore young people’s perspectives of Gorton in East Manchester

“Future Fires has offered me the support and autonomy to develop and recognise my skills as a leader and artist in a community context for the first time.”
