Lost & Found Festival is looking for emerging performers, artists and writers to take part in their festival: Wednesday 26th – Friday 28th September 2012

Lost & Found Festival is a three day festival of pop-up performance taking place in surprising locations throughout Manchester City Centre – on Metrolink trams, in Piccadilly Gardens and up Oxford Road to name but a few.  We are looking for innovative, interactive performance suggestions from a variety of art forms – including theatre, dance, poetry, visual art, music and everything in between…

You can get involved in Lost & Found in one of two ways.  We are looking for:

1. Proposals for public performance:

Original ideas for performance/ art which will take place in a public setting.  We are particularly interested in interactive work.

Please submit a one page proposal describing the idea, where it might take place in the city, the duration of the work and whether there will be cost implications (other than artist bursary).  In addition, please submit a CV & images/ links to previous work.  Please note that we may ask to meet artists to discuss their idea in person on Thursday 12th July.

Lost & Found will offer artists a fee/commission for their works (to be determined based on the scale of the performance), as well as documentation and mentoring sessions to support artist’s professional development.

2. New writing submissions:

We are looking for short stories, poems and extracts of which will be displayed in poster spaces throughout the city.  We are particularly interested in writing which stimulates readers to view their surroundings in a different way.

The writing should contain the three words ‘Lost’, ‘&’, ‘Found embedded within the text – the words do not have to follow on from one-another.  Writing should be original and less than 50 words in length (this may be an extract of a longer text).  As the writing will be displayed in public places, we will not be able to accept writing containing offensive language.

Each writing piece selected will receive a bursary of £50, as well as promotion of their work on the Lost & Found webpage and poster spaces throughout the city centre.

Deadline for submission of performance proposals and new writing is Friday 6th July 2012. Entries to be submitted to: Lostandfound@contactmcr.com

For more information, or if you have any questions please email us.
