Take Shape is so named to refect the influence the young people will have on the creative outputs within the project. I've realised it also echoes the sense of 'newness' surrounding the setup of the project.
I've been in talks with two local youth centres near Miles Platting; St. George's and YPAC. Both centres have been involved with local youth provision for a number of years, but have never worked together on a project before. Similarly I am new to work with teenagers in this area and will also be working alongside artists with whom I haven't previously collaborated with. Take Shape is as much about allowing creative ideas to form as the building of strong foundations on which future projects could happen. Take Shape will happen in the newly refurbished St. George's community centre (in photo below) as it is a fantastic space in which to bring together a new group.
All 12 - 16 year olds from Miles Platting, Ancoats and Collyhurst are welcome to take part in Take Shape. Click on the download below to see the flyer and find out more details about the project. I look forward to seeing how all these new collaborations will shape the project!
