Contacting the World
International theatre festival
Contacting the World is Contact’s pioneering international theatre festival for young theatre practitioners that is held every 2 years. The festival was founded in 2002 and has involved over 1200 participants from over 30 countries since its inception. It continues to be a life changing project, starting many emerging artists on their career paths and inspiring the next generation of performers through its work with local schools.
The festival is unique due to its commitment to international collaboration – the selected companies are twinned and work over a 9 month period with their twin to create a brand new piece of work each, based on shared themes that come out of that process.
The next twinning process will start in November 2013, leading up to the week long residential festival - Contacting the World 2014 - taking place in Manchester from the 7th to 13th July 2014.
We are looking for new companies to take part from all round the world, alumni companies to return to show how much they’ve progressed, Manchester schools who are interested in taking part and volunteers who want to get involved with the festival.
To register an interest for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity please email the Festival Manager, Jude Jagger at judejagger@contactmcr.com.
